Fear Of God 6th Collection Review

Fear of God designer, Jerry Lorenzo, returns with his 6th collection; this time Lorenzo is joined by some heavy hitters. The likes of Nike and a lookbook composed of Models such as Jared Leto from the band, 30 seconds to mars, Maggie Maurer, Xavier Buestel and Aiden Andrews. The lookbook also features promising photographer Pierre Toussaint.

The collection stays true to its roots sporting oversized and layered streetwear designs. Although this showcase shines brightly this cumulation feels different. It feels like Lorenzo is making a statement with this selection like he’s announcing he’s here to stay and also be a leader and global icon when it comes to streetwear fashion.

The use of natural tones and patterns give the Fear of God 6th collection a rustic vibe. The item that represents the collection as a whole is the 1,495-canvas work jacket. The jacket is made up of heavy canvas in a rustic tan color but yet gives off western vibes. The jacket reminds you of an old fighter pilot jacket from WW2 but, yet Lorenzo makes it blend into today’s world of fashion. The jacket gives you the feeling of searching through your grandparent’s closest and finding the coolest things that may be so outdated but somehow when you wear them they fit right into today’s fashion scene.

The 6th collection sees its first collaboration with Nike. The Fear of God X Nike Skylon 2 is the first look into what Lorenzo has planned with Nike. The shoe is set to release sometime in October and sports a $395 price tag.

In conclusion, the 6th Fear of God collection is strong with some amazing pieces but yet feels lackluster and too trendy in my opinion.

A Look Inside 2018

This year is already off to a fast start and I can’t wait for what this year has in store for not only me but the people that view my blog on a regular basis. I would like to take a minute to kind of go over the things that I plan on doing with my blog this year.

The number one thing I can promise is more content!! I know I can go missing in action sometimes but this year I am committed to bringing you guys more content, more sneaker reviews, and more life stories. This leads me to my second promise regarding more life stories, which will allow me to give you more of an insight into my daily life and the journey to becoming a successful blogger. I am not here to talk about success but to share issues that I feel everyone is facing in some way and sharing my perspective on those issues. I believe that people are more interested in the grind and the battle to become successful rather than flaunting success after the fact.

The third promise I plan to do this year is to give up and coming artists a platform to display their talents; from local musicians, photographers, fashion influences, and anyone that is doing cool stuff that should have a platform. I am here to shine a spotlight on anything creative and on people that are doing amazing things around the world. So if you know of anyone who could use this platform please feel free to email me and we can network. I want everyone to be successful in whatever they are doing and however they define success. I want to thank anyone and everyone that has ever read an article or clicked on my link. I appreciate it very much and it means the world to me, so thank you!

First Day Out in my opinion was the hottest song of 2016; the new style of Detroit rapper Tee Grizzley had everyone wanting more. Well we finally got what we were waiting for this past weekend. On April 7th 2017 the Detroit native released his first mixtape entitled “My Moment”, a 13-song mixtape of straight fire. We love Tee Grizzley for the rawness that he has, talking about life situations; like going to jail, close friends getting killed, and loyalty. It’s safe to say that Tee Grizzley is here to stay and is a major artist to look out for this year. Down below is a link to the track list of “My Moment”. We also have a new track from Ty$o Supreme down below as well.

Today I took the time to sit down with another up and coming artist, Willie Humbles, who comes out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Willie’s lyrics can hit home with almost anyone, making him a very versatile artist. The strongest message I took away from listening to his work is the importance of always being yourself and that no matter what you are doing, live life for your own happiness and everything else will soon follow. Staying true to yourself is an important lesson to learn when you are in your early 20s and Willie expresses this in his music. While others may think that they know what is best for you, in reality, you will always reserve the right of knowing where your own best interests lie. Willie lives by the mantra of always doing whatever you want to do and having faith in yourself. Not only is Willie a talented lyricist, he also is talented in painting and drawing, making him a well-rounded artist. Willie Humbles is one to look out for in 2017.  Check out the short interview below.

First off, where are you from?
Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Which famous musicians do you admire and why?
2 Pac- I admire him for the cultural impact he made through his music.

Eminem- For his attention to detail in each lyric and his aggressive approach with a fast-paced flow.

J Cole- For storytelling music, life experiences, and inspiring message.

Lil Wayne- For clever analogies, his ability to adapt to all different types of beats, and his work ethic.

Were you influenced by old records & tapes? If so, which ones?
Big-Tymers CD when I was little.

What projects are you working on currently?

I am currently working on an EP called “Beyond” and an album called “October 24th”.

What’s the next step for you musically?

Making my own beats and creating a visual album.

Do you have any advice for up and coming artists?

Save your money, find a way to genuinely express your lyrics, sound like yourself and not like anyone else, and portray a message in your music that people can grow from. Remember music is made for the people before anyone else.

Where can the people check out your music?

Today I got to sit down with an up and coming music group out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Nefelibata is a group made up of A.J. Plewa aka Drù  Tyson Spears aka TysoSPRME (who just happens to be my little brother). Nefelibata gives you smooth vocals and raps that anyone can relate to. Those are only two of the countless reasons that makes this group a must listen for anyone that likes music. Check out the interview below.

First off where are you from?

I was born in Missouri and now I am living and frequent within Milwaukee, WI.

What got you into music?

I got into music at the age of 14-15 through an older cousin Nolan aka Nol Polite. I was always interested in music just by loving the sound and what it was. It was an escape, stories, lessons, love; everything that a human could feel that’s what it was to me. It was something about the way it made me feel that made me pursue music on a more professional and focused level.

Is your family musical?

A lot of members in my family are musical. From my uncle doing reggae, to my cousins dancing, to other cousins that make music or any form of art. Even my grandpa’s taste in music lives on through my dad and through me. I can still vibe out to the old school joints.

Which famous musicians do you admire? Why?

Jay-z. Just everything musically about that man is something to admire. From the bars and catchphrases, to the hooks, to even his business state of mind. That entrepreneur mind-set that he has inspires me to do my best; to one day take over the game, be a great, and be a “business man” if you get the Hov reference. Lol

Were you influenced by old records & tapes? If so, which ones?

I was influenced by a lot of music, older and new. Outkast, kid cudi, Hov, Wayne’s older material, of course. Just to name a few.

What projects are you currently working on?

Right now I am working on 4 projects. I have my solo project titled “Fo(u)r Forever”; which is basically me expressing myself and telling my current listeners and new listeners who I am as a person, my experiences/stories in my life, and within the underground music scene. I’m also working on a full length Nefelibata project with Drù. In addition, I am working on 2 different EPs, one with my homie SkyHi, he’s a young producer who has a couple of tracks on my solo project, and another EP with a  producer that’s a homie of mine as well, that also produced a few tracks for my solo project. That one’s still in the discussion phases lol. So I’m stacked with the hits lol.

What’s the next step for you musically?

Expand and grow. Expand my music throughout the world, gain new fans and relationships, and grow as a person and as a musician; lyrically and mentally.

Any advice for an up and coming artist?

Stay true to yourself, never change who you are, and make sure you have the right people with you on your journey to whatever you view as success. Having the wrong people around you can be very damaging. Not everybody is your “friend” or worth your space and time.
